Does Salesforce have its own MCP server?

Salesforce MCP server

Yes. Salesforce hosts MCP servers and says they are generally available. One reads only, and one also writes.Source

The facts

What it does, from Salesforce's own pages

The server

Salesforce Hosted MCP Servers. There are two standard servers: platform/sobject-reads and platform/sobject-all.Source

An older local server, Salesforce DX MCP, reaches end of life on 2 November 2026.Source

Status

Generally available. Salesforce's own repository says its hosted MCP servers are GA.Source

Where it runs

Salesforce hosts the servers. The read-only server for a production org is at https://api.salesforce.com/platform/mcp/v1/platform/sobject-reads. Sandbox orgs add a /sandbox/ part to the path.Source

Reads or changes

platform/sobject-reads reads only. Salesforce says no tool on it can create, update or delete a record.Source

platform/sobject-all gives full read and write access.Source

Sign-in

OAuth through an External Client App that an admin sets up. A client needs the server URL, the client ID and the client secret.Source

The server acts as the signed-in user and inherits that user's full security context.Source

Every server is off until an administrator turns it on.Source

Cost and plan

It needs Enterprise Edition or above. Developer Edition orgs can use it too.Source

Each tool call counts against your org's daily API quota.Source

Connect it to Claude

Salesforce links its own setup guide for Claude from its connection page. Claude calls these connectors: you add the server URL and sign in with the client ID and secret.Source

Limits and things to know

A new or changed External Client App can take up to 30 minutes to start working.Source

The mcp-remote bridge is not supported, and the URLs of Experience Cloud sites are not supported yet.Source

For a sales team

How a sales team can use it

These are our suggestions, not Salesforce's. We have not tried them on this server.

Start on the read-only server

Ask Claude for open opportunities that close this quarter and have had no activity in 30 days. Nothing can change while you learn how it answers.

Try a sandbox first

Salesforce gives sandbox orgs their own server address. Connect one before production, and watch what Claude asks for without touching live data.

Decide who gets it

The server acts as the signed-in user with that user's full access. A seat with wide access gives Claude wide access, so choose who is set up.
